A. General Questions

1. What is the IXD Programme? What are its benefits?

IXD (Inventory Transfer / Ship-Cross Dock) is an Amazon logistics programme that allows sellers to easily move their inventory across different Fulfillment Centres (FCs) in India.
You only send your stock to the nearest Receive Centre, and Amazon takes care of transferring it to all other registered FCs on your behalf.

Key benefits:

  • Single shipment creation – No need to create separate shipments for multiple FCs.

  • Single appointment – You only book an appointment at the nearest Receive Centre.

  • Lower cost – Flat shipping fee for customer orders fulfilled from any FC in India.

2. How to join the IXD Programme?

Any seller using FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) can join IXD if these conditions are met:

  • ApoB (Additional Place of Business) registration in the state where the nearest Receive Centre is located.

  • GST + ApoB registration in at least two additional states where IXD FCs operate.

After these registrations, sellers can start sending inventory to the Receive Centres.

3. Do Receive Centres and destination FCs change over time?

Yes. Amazon updates them based on customer demand. Sellers are notified of any changes and are given an option to opt-out.

4. Can a seller send stock only to their assigned Receive Centre?

Preferably yes, since the nearest centre reduces cost.
However, if that centre has no storage space available, the seller may send stock to another Receive Centre.

B. Operations

6. Are all ASINs eligible for IXD?

No. Some categories are restricted:

  • Heavy and bulky items

  • Fragile products

  • Oversize items (larger than 18″ × 14″ × 8″ or weighing over 20 kg)

  • Food products (unless the seller updates FSSAI in each relevant FC)

7. How much quantity of each SKU can be sent?

Amazon provides recommended quantities on the Restock Inventory (RIM) dashboard. Sellers can plan shipments based on these recommendations.

8. How is storage managed at the Receive Centre?

Amazon sets a storage limit for every seller.
Common default limit for Standard inventory: 50,000 units.

The storage allocation is reviewed every 4 weeks based on recent sales performance.

9. How do you book an appointment?

You raise an appointment request through Seller Central. Once the inventory is received at the Receive Centre, Amazon manages the transfers.

10. Is inventory saleable during transfer?

Yes. Inventory in transfer appears as “Reserved”.
Placement SLA: 4–7 days

11. Where do customer returns go?

Returns are sent to:

  • The invoicing FC, or

  • The nearest return consolidation centre (if the seller has opted in)

12. How are removal orders processed?

Removal orders must be created from the FC where the inventory is physically stored.

13. Any changes in packaging requirements?

No changes.

  • Single-ASIN boxes → Seller’s packaging remains intact

  • Multi-ASIN boxes → Amazon uses secondary packaging

14. How to stop sending stock to a particular FC?

Steps:

  1. Disenroll from IXD

  2. Remove inventory from that FC

  3. Deregister GST/ApoB from that FC’s state

  4. Re-enroll in IXD

C. Commercials

15. What is the benefit of the Weight Handling Fee under IXD?

  • Transfer from Receive Centre to destination FCs is free

  • Customer orders get a flat shipping fee, no matter which FC ships it

  • This benefit does not apply to Seller Flex

16. Is the weight fee based on product weight or box weight?

Only the ordered product weight is considered, not the box weight.

17. Who is responsible for in-transit damage?

Amazon takes full responsibility as per the FBA-FC Damage Reimbursement Policy.

18. How is GST invoice value decided for inter-FC transfers?

Invoices use:

  • Seller’s declared value

  • If no value is declared, Amazon uses a system-calculated valuation (close to listing/offer price)

D. Visibility & Reporting

19. Do sellers receive Stock Transfer Reports?

Yes, sellers get the following reports:

  • Monthly & On-Demand Stock Transfer Report

  • GST Ready-to-File Report

  • Inventory Ledger

  • Inventory Event Details

  • Daily Inventory Snapshot

20. How to download transfer invoices?

You can request all invoices through Seller Support by sharing Stock Transfer Report details.

21. What is the GST Ready-to-File Report?

It is a consolidated report that can be directly imported into GSTR-1 filing tools (after minor adjustments).

22. Who generates the e-Waybill?

For inter-FC transfers, Amazon (as the transporter) generates the e-Waybill.

23. When is an e-Waybill required?

  • If a single shipment is worth ₹50,000 or more, OR

  • If multiple shipments in one truck together exceed ₹50,000

24. Can e-Waybill be filed for value below ₹50,000?

Yes, voluntary filing is allowed.

25. What should the seller ensure?

  • GST ID must be active

  • e-Waybill system should show compliant status

  • No overdue GST compliance issues

26. How to download e-Waybills?

You can download them directly from your e-Waybill portal login.

27. What is the e-Invoicing process?

Amazon follows e-invoicing rules based on FC addresses. Full details are available in Amazon Seller Central Help.
